Warwake

A World War II naval game where you steer the ship yourself. Helm, throttle, turret training, and your own judgement about how far ahead of a moving target to aim.

Status Early prototype Steam Coming Soon Release To be announced
A World War II battleship under way at sunset, a second ship firing in the distance, a snow-capped island on the horizon.
Captured in Unreal Engine 5. Work in progress.

What it is

One ship, and you are driving it. There is no overview map you play the battle from and no auto-aim. You put the rudder over, wait for the hull to answer, train the turrets, and guess the lead on a target that is also moving.

What is in the build right now

An early prototype. The Steam page states the current scope plainly: one class of ship, open water, and the work going into making the main guns feel right. Ships steam, turrets train, shells land. Almost everything else on screen is placeholder and is expected to be rebuilt at least once.

Not in the build yet

  • Torpedoes and aircraft
  • Any damage model beyond a hull-points bar
  • A campaign
  • Multiplayer
  • Fleet actions, meaning several ships in line under one player
  • A user interface anyone would call finished

Fleet actions are the reason the project started. They are not in the build, so they are not in the trailer and there is no date attached to them.

Read this page as a snapshot. Warwake has not been released and is not on sale. No release date, price, review score or player count has been announced, and nothing on this page should be read as one. The scope above is what runs today, not a promise about what ships.

Who is making it

Shen Huang, solo, in Unreal Engine 5, published under the 237 Studio name. The game has its own site at warwakegame.com with more detail on the design, and a Discord server where build questions get answered.
